ARTICLE - WALKABOUT - 10,000 WHEELCHAIRS

THE WALKABOUT FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES A DONATION OF 10,000 WHEELCHAIRS

Gérald Oriol Jr, the Secretary of State for the Integration of Disabled People, met last Thursday, Ms. Carolina Gonzales, co-founder in 2009, of the Walkabout Foundation, which took the opportunity to announce a donation of 10,000 wheelchairs, to the benefit of persons in lack of mobility in Haiti.

During this meeting, which took place in the presence of the First Lady of the Republic, Sophia Martelly, there was a question of the various problems faced by disabled people in the country. Established were the following objectives: develop a partnership to facilitate access to wheelchairs for disabled people, and consider the possibility of manufacturing in Haiti some of the wheelchairs promised.

Gérald Oriol Jr, sent on behalf of all persons with disabilities, his thanks to the Walkabout Foundation for this donation, and pledged to mentor more people with disabilities, so that thay can enjoy the same rights and privileges as all other citizens, according to the Constitution. For its part, the Office of the First Lady of the Republic has welcomed the assistance of the Walkabout Foundation, and reiterated the continued support of Sophia Martelly of people with special needs.
