ARTICLE - POLICEMAN KILLED - INQUEST

THE AUTHORITIES ANNOUNCE AN INVESTIGATION OF THE ASSASSINATION OF THE POLICE OFFICER, CALIXTE WALKY

The authorities have announced an investigation into the assassination of the police officer Calixte Walky.

The governmental authorities, police and judiciary are determined to launch an investigation in order to make light into the assassination of the police officer Calixte Walky. The Prime Minister, Gary Conille, who has come out of a deep silence since his resignation, was constrained to intervene to bring calm. The tension, which caused a panic, pushed the Prime Minister to reaffirm his determination to assume his responsibility.

Mr. Conille revealed having the Minister of Justice to convene a special meeting of the Superior Council of the National Police Force (CSPN). The chief of the government says that he is in liaison with the managing director of the police force to establish who is responsable in this incident.

According to Mr. Conille it is important that this situation is managed in calmly and in serenity. Stressing that emotional reactions will do nothing but complicate the situation, Mr. Conille condemned the aggressions against police officers during these last weeks.

The departmental director of the West Department of of the Police force, Michel Gédéon Angel, is of the same opinion. He ensures that an investigation into the crime will be beneficial both, for the member of Parliament, and the police officers. While launching a call to calm, the highest level of the police force requests the collaboration of Deputy Sejour within the framework of this inquiry.

The investigations into the assassinations of police officers are carried out by the central management of the judicial police (DCPJ). This body of the police force functions under the supervision of the government commissioner, Jean Renel Cenatus. The chief of the Parquet Court is also determined to carry out this investigation. He indicated yesterday of having issued several arrest warrants issued against people implicated in the assassinations of police officers.
