ARTICLE - TABARRE MARKET TRADERS

GOVERNMENT AID FOR MARKET TRADERS OF TABARRE
(Haiti Libre) -

Following the destruction of the Public Market of Tabarre on the night of 24 to 25 February 2012, where thousands of traders saw go up in smoke all their goods, President Martelly announced Monday that their activities would resume soon.

To this end, he announced that the Government would currently release funds to help traders, adding that the BRH (Bank of the Republic of Haiti) currently had 5 million dollars available, to which was added 44 million gourdes;{ the Ministry of Finance (40 million Gdes) and from the City of Tabarre (4 million Gdes)}.

For her part, Yanick Mézil, the Minister for Women, informed that UN Women had also started to provide funds for additional assistance. The Minister informed the merchants that they can receive a loan through "Fonkoze", and that an insurance plan of which they will be the beneficiaries, was under consideration.
