ARTICLE - PARLIAMENT - PM POLICY ACCEPTED

81 FOR, 7 ABSTENTIONS, 0 AGAINST, HAITI HAS FINALLY ITS PRIME MINISTER

This Friday, October 14, 2011, the new Prime Minister, Dr. Garry Conille read the statement of general policy of the Government before the Chamber of Deputies. After the reading, all the deputies present spoke to discuss the document, draw attention to, and ask questions of the Prime Minister. Some deputies requested aspects related to their constituencies, .... not present in the document, ... took into account in the policy, the government program and the action plans. The exercise lasted just over 11 hours and ended Saturday at 8:19 am by a favorable vote.

At the roll call of Deputies, 88 were present.

.....The First Secretary announced the voting results: "...7 abstentions, 0 against, 81 for"

Following this result, the President of the Senate spoke to the Prime Minister. "Prime Minister, the office and all the team gives you its congratulations. We believe that the vote that the Chamber of Deputies has given you today, .... is not a blank check, especially when a vote is massive. Mr. Prime Minister, we have confidence in you [...] we say to you good luck. We are with you but,.... be careful,.... the world is looking at you and the country expects much from you."

The Prime Minister, Dr. Garry Conille then spoke to the Assembly of Deputies "... members of the Bureau, honorable deputies, I will not speak too long. It's almost 14 hours of debates which are for me a truly historic event. Thank you very much for the confidence that you have placed in me. On behalf of my colleagues I want to thank you for the confidence that you have placed in us. We do not take it as a blank check. On the contrary, we heard the reserves, advice, questions, and we pledge today to continue the work, dialogue, and discussion, because as I said in the document; the people can not wait longer. Thank you so much" declared the new Prime Minister of Haiti, Dr. Garry Conille.
