EUROPE WELCOMES THE NOMINATION OF GARRY CONILLE

Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission, congratulated the Prime Minister, Dr. Garry Conille for his appointment to the post.

"I congratulate the new Prime Minister of the Republic of Haïti, Dr Garry Conille, on his appointment to the post. The establishment of a new Haïtian government is crucial for speeding up the process of reconstruction and the economic recovery of Haïti.

The European Union reiterates its commitment to continuing to work in partnership with the Prime Minister and his government in order to respond to the urgent challenges of the reconstruction process. The European Union will continue to support Haïti in its efforts to promote democracy, the rule of law and development in the country."
