CANADA WELCOMES THE FORMATION OF A NEW GOVERNMENT IN HAITI
(Haiti Libre) -

The Honourable Diane Ablonczy, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (Americas and Consular Affairs), today welcomed the creation of Haiti's new government under Prime Minister Garry Conille.

"I extend my sincere congratulations to Prime Minister Conille and his newly formed cabinet, as well as to President Michel Martelly," said Minister of State Ablonczy. "The installation of a new cabinet is a welcome step. With Haiti's government now in place, urgent reconstruction and development challenges can be addressed to improve the lives of the Haitian people."

"A long-term partner of Haiti and Haitians, Canada will continue to assist in addressing urgent reconstruction and development needs," added the Minister of State. "We continue to encourage the Haitian governments' efforts to implement reforms so that the public interest is upheld, the rule of law prevails, human rights are protected and the economy is strengthened through local job creation, trade and investment."
