The Club of Madrid wishes him success and hopes that this appointment coupled with a new government will allow the country and the Haitian people enjoying positive change.
The Club of Madrid, composed of 87 members, former heads of state of 60 democratic countries, would like to reiterate to the Prime Minister its full support and availability in helping Haiti achieve its reconstruction and development.
Concerning the latter subject, we welcome the Prime Minister and President Michel Martelly's initiative "pacte du bien-vivre ensemble" (pact of good-living together), a project that has the potential of bringing forth desired changes by different sectors. We are willing to support and contribute towards the success of this Haitian initiative. It consists of a great opportunity that could shape a new democratic and prosperous Haiti; an opportunity that we are sure the Haitians will not miss.
We would like to welcome all the social and political actors of Haiti to express good will and put into effect all necessary efforts in order to produce compacts as specific as possible on relevant themes for the future...
About the Club of Madrid
The Club of Madrid is an independent non-profit organization composed of 80 democratic former Presidents and Prime Ministers from 56 different countries, constituting the world’s largest forum of former Heads of State and Government, who have come together to respond to a growing demand for support among leaders in two key areas: democratic leadership and governance; and response to crisis and post-crisis situations. Both lines of work share the common goal of addressing the challenge of democratic governance and political conflict as well as that of building functional and inclusive societies, where the leadership experience of our Members is most valuable.
