MARTELLY MET WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF POLITICAL PARTIES

Yesterday Wednesday, at the initiative of the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, more than thirty representatives of political parties gathered at Les Palmes restaurant in Petionville. It was for the Head of State, to explore, with the Haitian political leaders, the tracks of a grouping of parties by trend.

All speakers expressed their satisfaction with the presidential initiative. They almost unanimously endorsed the vision of President Martelly to see the formation of major political movements and not the plethora of parties, often unrepresentative.

Mr.. Osner FEVRY, of CONACED and of the Convention on the Political Parties, spoke of a historic initiative. Mr. Reynold GEORGES of ALLAH, .... encouraged President Martelly to continue on the path of consultation, dialogue and of institutional strengthening. Eric Prévost Junior of UCCAD, meanwhile, believes that before any thing the legal framework of the approach must be created. Pastor Chavannes JEUNE of ACRAH, advocated on his part for the formation of four political platforms, grouped by trend.

This meeting with political leaders followed the week of reconciliation, whose objective is to have meetings with all living former heads of state in the country.

Michel Martelly wanted to clarify, after the exchange, that a forum around the issue of political parties would be held soon in order to allow all political actors to hone their ideas of how to better structure and strengthen the Haitian political parties.

The parties that were represented at this meeting were: Fusion des Sociaux Démocrates, Grand Rassemblement pour l'Evolution d'Haïti (GREH), Veye Yo, Oganizasyon Lavni, Ansanm nou fò, Repons Peyizan, Mobilisation pour le Progrès d'Haïti (MPH), Alliance Chrétienne pour la Reconstruction d'Haïti (ACCRAH), CONACED, Jeunesse Pour la République (JPR), Front pour la Reconstruction Nationale (FRN), Alliance pour la Libération et l'Avancement d'Haïti (ALLAH), Alliance Démocratique pour la Réconciliation Nationale (ADRENA), Konbit Nasyonal pou Devlòpman Ayiti (KNDA), Solidarité, CONAPH, Parti Louverturien (PL), Parti Social Rénové (PSR), Mobilisation Démocratique pour le Relèvement d'Haïti (MDRH), Mouvement Sécurité Nationale (MSN), Respè, Parti Démocrate Institutionnaliste (PDI), MOCHRENA, Parti pour l'Evolution Nationale Haïtienne (PENH), Konbit Pou Refè Ayiti (KPRA), Coalition Réformiste pour le Développement d'Haïti dans la Démocratie et l'Ordre (CREDDO), Vwazinay, Viv ansanm, Pati Politik Peyizan (PPP), Oganizasyon Pou Avansman Milot (OPAM).
