MEETING - MARTELLY AND LAMBERT
(Haiti Libre) -

The coordinator of the INITE platform and leader of the majority in the senate, Senator Joseph Lambert; met with President Michel Martelly as part of the configuration of the new Government. Senator of the Centre, Simon Dieuseul Desras reveals some details...

"...the coordinator of the G-16, Senator Joseph Lambert met with President Martelly as part of the configuration of the government. He asked advice in order to know how the political parties could participate, ... to have a 'large' government. But, from what we have learned,.... there are many political parties that withdrew or chose not to participate, because they say that they are not ready to cohabit with certain personalities, .... personalities in relation with human rights...

Apart from that he told us that President Martelly seems very flexible, .... very open, ... so that an opening is made at the level of the Government. But, the feeling that we have is that the offer he made does not apply to sovereign ministries (ministères régaliens) [...] they are not ministries that have a representative budget [...] the offer is not really interesting, ... with the result that many political parties have decided not to participate [...]

According to Senator Joseph Lambert there is a manifestation of will, ... to have an opening at the level of the government, .... to have a participation in other sectors, ... in order to have stability at the government level."

Senator Desras does not agree personally to integrate the new government but explains that he's only an "element of the G16, and often when the decisions are not shared, .... it is the vote that decides. So far, my position is to let President Martelly establish his own government..."
