ARTICLE - MARTELLY MEETS BONIFACE

PRESIDENT MARTELLY MET BONIFACE ALEXANDRE
(Haiti Libre) -

As part of national reconciliation, President Michel Martelly, was received yesterday Friday at the private residence of Mr. Boniface Alexandre, former leader of the country during the transition period after the departure of President Jean Bertrand Aristide.

This is the fourth meeting with a former Head of State for President Martelly this week; after those of Prosper Avril, Jean-Bertrand Aristide and Jean-Claude Duvalier.

President Martelly described former President Boniface, as a humble person, wise, and respectful of the constitution.

"...I congratulate President Martelly for this initiative that he has taken to try to reconcile the nation of Haiti; so one thing that I would ask the people is to show good will, good faith; because for there to be a reconciliation it is necessary that all Haitians accept that we deserve to be reconciled ..." declared Boniface Alexandre.

A meeting with former President, Lesly Manigat, scheduled last Wednesday, was canceled by President Martelly due to the health status of Mr. Manigat, who is recovering after being hospitalized for a third time. While his recovery is slow, the doctors of the former president remain optimistic about his health.
