FIRST SPECULATIONS ON THE RATIFICATION VOTE IN THE LOWER HOUSE
(Haiti Libre) -

About 3 weeks from a ratification vote of the Prime Minister-designate, while the Commission of the Lower House, responsible for examining the documents of Laurent Lamothe should be established this week, our dear deputies are already speculating...

For Deputy Abel Descolines (Mirebalais/Boucan Carré / LAVNI) "[...] There are colleagues who want that the issue of the ratification takes time, and another group that wants things done quickly, to allow the country to have a new government. The group that is making maneuvers, so that the thing takes time, [...] wants that the Senate of the Republic be freed of 10 senators [end of mandate] and hope that from there they will be capable of being more influencing in negotiations or in the sharing of responsibilities..."

For his part, Deputy Guy Gérad Georges (Torbeck / Chantal / INITE), wants to personally examine the documents of the Prime Minister-designate before deciding "...I know Mr. Lamothe as the Foreign Minister, as a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Today, we must analyze the documents, and myself, as a Deputy, I expect not only that the Commission analyzes the documents, but that they are in my hands. From there, I might decide on the finality of my vote [...] in large part it's technical, but let's not forget that we are a political assembly; therefore, in a political assembly there is always a mixture that can be done, but I will say that 90% is technical..."

The Deputy and Pastor Sadrac Dieudonné (Gonaïves / MOCHRENHA) do not agree with the candidacy of Laurent Lamothe "...I think Mr. Lamothe did not really meet the criteria for becoming Prime Minister [...] the reason is very political. My disagreement is that Mr. Lamothe is one of the ministers who rebelled against Mr. Conille..."

As for Senator Joseph Lambert, he is optimistic about the vote of ratification of the Chamber and even makes a prediction, stating that "[...] My primary motivation is to give the country a new government, so that we go towards a sharing of responsibilities. We believe that the deputies will follow suit with the senators and make sure that as soon as possible, the country can have a new government. Of course Mr. Lamothe will pass with a minimum of 62 votes for..."
