UN: HAITI CHOLERA REPORT COMPLETED

UNITED NATIONS — United Nations spokesman Martin Nesirky says Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has received the report he requested from an independent panel of experts investigating the source of Haiti's cholera outbreak.

The spokesman expects Haiti's government will release the findings today.

Nesirky said the panel gave Ban the report at UN headquarters today, and he turned it over to his Haiti envoy Edmond Mulet. The spokesman says Mulet will now deliver the report to the Haitian government and its findings will be made public afterward.

Ban requested the independent probe after UN peacekeepers were accused of inadvertently starting the cholera epidemic through bad sanitation. The outbreak has killed more than 4,700 and sickened 250,000.
