Michel Martelly, the President of the Republic of Haiti has announced a series of measures for 2012... the needs of the country on national issues such as education, security, justice, health and unemployment.

In speaking about education, the Head of State was pleased to have assisted 903,000 children to go to school for free, hoping that in the new year a legal framework will be developed by the Ministry of Education for the sustainability of the program of free education. Also in this context he stated that he had taken steps to maintain and improve the service of free school transport. New taxes will also be set up for lottery and borlette, and these will be used to make investments in the educational field.

The President also announced that 50 million euros made ​​available by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Spanish Government for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Haiti, and that in January 2012, five financial institutions will offer loans to entrepreneurs. "Starting in January the service will be available. Any young person with an entrepreneurial spirit and having a well-developed investment project could go to these institutions to lend them money," said Michel Martelly.

On the level of security he wants to have a calm and social peace in the country in order to promote domestic and foreign investment. "We want to create a conducive environment in order to encourage domestic investors to spend their money in the country. We must also renew the nightlife."

"Domestic production is one of our priorities that can help us to project a different image [of Haiti] in the international arena. In this perspective, we have proceeded in the distribution of free bags of fertilizer in all ten departments of the country", a program that should continue in 2012.
