ARTICLE - POLICY STATEMENT - DIFFICULT TASK

THE STATEMENT OF GENERAL POLICY, A TASK THAT PROMISES TO BE DIFFICULT
(Haiti Libre) -

The task does not promise to be easy for the new Prime Minister, Dr. Garry Conille. He will have to meet, if it isn't already done, all the senators and deputies to hear their demands. For certain the major issues are the IHRC and the Minustah. These must be part of the general policy statement that Mr. Conille will present in front of the parliament. Other problems at the level of the departments and constituencies must also be in the document...

Clear answers to important issues

For the Deputy of Dame-Marie, Jean Acklush Louis Jeune (ALTERNATIVE), it is very important that the general policy statement responds to questions about the IHRC, the departure of the Minustah, and the army "...There are a number of elements. For example, the question of the IHRC,... everyone knows that I was in the demonstrations against the IHRC, and now the Prime Minister even if it's the international people who have chosen him will have to say if he will repatriate the IHRC to the Haitians,.... or if he will leave it in the hands of Bill Clinton.

Secondly, the question of the Minustah [...] the Prime Minister must also tell us when the Minustah will leave. It is necessary to be clear about this because we know that it's a great orientation of the policy.

Thirdly, the question of the army [...] Today it is extremely important that if there is a return of the army that there is a debate in all sectors of society [...] I think we should be clear on all these issues..."

A plea for the creation of a Secretariat of State for Handicrafts

The Deputy of Croix-des-Bouquets/Thomazeau, Jean Tholbert Alexis (ANSANM NOU FÒ) indicated that a plea will be made in the context of the general policy of Prime Minister Garry Conille for the creation of a Secretariat of State for Handicrafts. "As part of the general policy that the Prime Minister will submit to Parliament ourselves we will focus on the issue of crafts and the Vice-President of the Commission of Tourism and Culture [Deputy Charles Kenol] will elaborate on that to make a plea to request the creation of a Secretariat of State for Handicrafts."

Departments should not be forgotten

For the Senator of the Centre Simon Dieuseul Desras (LAVNI),... Garry Conille must in his general policy think to include the problems at the level of the departments of each Senator "...It is time to question him. Each senator will question him not only on the country's problems, but also on the problems in the departments. Personally, I will question him on the issues of my region where there are a number of problems, [...] The problems that I have in my department,... will they be a part or not of the general policy? Is the infrastructure of the road to Savanette and to Balladère scheduled? Will the issue of electricity in the town of Mirebalais be solved? [...] We will question him to see what he has along with President Martelly for employment,... for the issue of the 14th month salary... [...] We know that in the general policies there are a lot of things that are said, but they never happen. This time we will ask that there be performance indicators that will show what will happen in three months, and in six months. That way we will have an idea of the problems that will be solved..."

Garry Conille - We will reflect the conversations we had...

For his part, Prime Minister Conille declared Thursday during a joint conference with the President of the Republic "... I met almost everyone in small groups, some several times. I listened to them and we will reflect on the conversations we had with them in the various documents that we have to prepare."

Now it only remains to wait for the presentation of the general policy, probably next Wednesday to see if the desires, expectations, wishes of the deputies and senators will be met, and will be fulfilled...
