photos - prosthetics - part 2

The prosthetist uses a scanner to scan the contour of her leg.

The info is stored on the computer and then sent over the net to the prosthetics lab in the United States. In one week the leg will be flown to Haiti and Annuelle will be able to start walking again.

The man with the artificial leg works in the prosthetics lab as a translator. He was in the hospital with Annuelle recovering from his amputation the same time as Annuelle. He said it took him one day to use his leg and 3 days to start walking comfortably with it. He now bicycles and rides a motorcycle. He is confident and proud of his new leg. He said he does everything that he did before and his handicap doesn't stop him from doing anything. Annuelle was encouraged seeing how good her hospital friend was doing.

We dropped Annuelle off at the refuge camp she is staying at with a promise that soon she will be walking again. We are going to hold a celebration party when she gets her new leg!

Luciano was referred to the CMMB (Catholic Medical Mission Board) located on Delmas 50. They are coordinating with Hopital Albert Schweitzer out in Deschapelles to provide complicated prosthetics. One day Luciano will have 2 arms once again.
