photos - teacher seminars - part 3

The seminar was well attended. We put the word out to different churches and schools in the area and thought we might get an attendance of around 20, but it was a great surprise to see that 35 teachers showed up! Pastor Pierre brought some teachers from the mountains. One female teacher started walking at midnight in order to get to Coram Deo for the morning. Talk about dedication and determination to learn!
The haitian teachers were very interested in what Phil and Roslyn were explaining to them.
Later in the afternoon we showed the visitors part of the Delmas community. The One Stop grocery store where we always shopped has now been completed demolished sledgehammer by sledgehammer almost 2 years after the earthquake collapsed the building. This is all that is left of the old One Stop grocery store.
Since the earthquake we have shopped at a grocery store which is conveniently located across the street from the old One Stop. It is called Star 2000. They are in the process of constructing an extension to the store. They are using lots of rebar to make the supports extra sturdy to withstand a future earthquake.
Signs of the commercial part of Christmas. Santa Claus on the roof of the Star 2000!
