BUSY WEEK

Last week was a busy week and I didn't have much time to put up photos or work on the blog. The school children wrote their exams last week and we had a meeting with the parents on the weekend, where the report cards were handed out. Today, the children had a party where they enjoyed lots of goodies and music. Some of the students got together to put some skits together. They had so much fun that nobody wanted to leave. Everything was over by 3:00pm.

We are seeing changes in Port-au-Prince. Last week we saw a large line-up of people from the tent camp on the Champ Mars. IOM was involved. It looks like there will be movement to resettle the people from this camp. Pray that this becomes a reality for this camp in early 2012.

We also saw evidence of violence in the camps. One woman came to us asking for help. Somebody raped her in the large camp situated in the La Piste area. She filed a police report, knows her attacker and is living with a friend. As a result of the rape she is now pregnant.

Reginald's head wound is now almost 100% healed. Last Tuesday while Amos was over at Bernard Mevs Hospital to pick up Reginald, a police vehicle drove up with 2 injured people. Both had been shot in the Delmas 2 area. One man who had been shot in the throat was dead on arrival. The other man was more fortunate. He was shot in the shoulder. Crime in the Delmas 2 area is increased. Pray the police will be able to secure the Delmas 2 and La Piste where a large camp is. Thieves are using the camp to hide in.

Benson went to see the orthopedic doctor today and he needs to keep the long cast on for another 4 weeks. Poor kid, he really wants to get rid of that long cast. I promised him a party when he finally gets the cast removed.

Tomorrow Dr. Ed is bringing over a physiotherapy team and we will be hosting a community physiotherapy clinic for the day.

I have been busy organizing the living room/pharmacy and it now is done!

On December 21st we have a teacher couple flying in from Saskatchewan to hold teacher seminars for teachers in our community. These seminars will be held on December 22nd-24th. Then it is Christmas break. It will be fun to have visitors over for Christmas. Pray for all the activities taking place this week, healing for Benson and traveling mercies for the Canadian teachers!
