ARTICLE - POLICEMAN - KILLED & BURNED

POLICE OFFICER, SHOT, KILLED AND BURNED IN PORT-AU-PRINCE
(Defend Haiti) -

PORT-AU-PRINCE - Officer Moïse Saint Pierre of the Haitian National Police, part of the Motorized Intervention Brigade (BIM), was shot, killed and burned by unidentified individuals on Saturday morning bringing the number of law enforcement officers killed to 30 in 2011.

The body was found in the district of Santo 17, Las Plain (northern suburb of the capital), said Deputy Spokesman for the PNH, Gary Desrosiers.

According to the information that the authorities were able to collect, the victim was ambushed as he met someone on a motorcycle who called him on the phone.

The same caller threatened to kill the police officer's brother, during a second call.

The bike of the deceased was taken away.

Deploring the death of St. Pierre, an agent who was part of the 19th promotion of the PNH, the deputy spokesman calls on the active support of the population in the fight against crime.

This is the thirtieth police officer shot and killed in 2011.
