ARTICLE - NO MAYOR REVOCATIONS

THIERRY MAYARD PAUL REASSURES THE MAYORS "THERE WILL BE NO REVOCATIONS"
(Haiti Libre) -

Yesterday, the Minister of the Interior, of Territorial Collectivities and National Defense (MICTDN), Mr. Thierry Mayard-Paul met with the mayors of 140 municipalities as part of an approach to strengthening the Collectivities. On this occasion the Minister wished to put an end to rumors that massive revocations will take place.

"I know that there are concerns about rumors of revocations, of dismissals of mayors [...] Gentlemen, ladies, I will be clear with you today on the position of the President and of government, is that there will be no revocations. The government and the President are a government of inclusion. We are not on a witch hunt [...]

There are changes that will be made; it's normal [...] President Martelly said that it is an elected official who must replace an elected official. Based on the information that we have taken at the government level, there are town halls that are not functional, or no longer functional. People are lacking, have died, who do not work... it is normal that we will act on such cases," declared the Minister.

"We're tracing a new path towards a sustainable economic development by focusing on investment and job creation [...] You and I are the drivers of the development strategy advocated by the president," added the director of MICTDN; adding that to "drive safely, the development and the interventions desired by the local initiatives and a decentralized cooperation," are an effort of both parties and is necessary". Through our collective efforts we will improve production, employment opportunities and quality of life in collectivities throughout the country..."
