ARTICLE - HAITI GOV'T MEETS D.R. MILITARY

MEETING WITH DOMINCAN MILITARY
(Haiti Libre)-

A delegation, headed by Georges Racine, State Secretary of the Interior, was sent to the military post of Jimani by the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and National Defense (MICTDN), Mr. Thierry Mayard-Paul; to meet a military delegation from the capital of the neighboring republic. It was a goodwill gesture to show the interest of the Haitian government in the case of the alleged disappearance, on the Haitian side of Lake Azuei, of two Dominicans farmers who had not returned to their respective homes since before the prior evening.

Preliminary research conducted by the Army of the Domincan Republic revealed traces of blood leading to the lake and other evidence, such as prayer sheets usually held and transported by them. Consequently, only speculation would lead one to believe that Haitians would be involved in the alleged reprisals against them.

The presence of the Haitian delegation was welcomed by local residents who were reassured by the fact that if the Haitian nationals were involved in this case, they would be punishable by law.

The MICTDN work for the realization of the vision of the President of the Republic to create sustainable development initiatives by providing support to the people and the civic assistance to which they are legitimately entitled.
