THERE ARE TWO PROBLEMS IN HAITI: THE GOVERNMENT AND THE INTERNATIONAL AGENCIES
(Haiti Libre) -

Father Brice Jean Robert Simbert, pastor of Grand-Goâve who was in visit in Quebec last week spoke to the press of the situation in Haiti, saying that in Haiti there are two problems: the government and the international agencies.

"There are two problems in Haiti right now. The first is that the government can not finance the reconstruction, and the second is that the international agencies do not take into account the reality of Haiti".

Regarding the international agencies, he explained that the latter offer the Haitians to build houses that are not adapted to the Haitian reality. Some absolutely want that the houses are built with wood, while the wood retains heat. He stressed the fact that on $100 invested in a project, only 40 to 50% of the funds are used in the project, .... the rest is used to house, feed... the cooperant.

"One day, the Haitian people is likely to rise up. And when it is angry, things can go wrong. It is necessary to seek the advice of the people of Haiti for the reconstruction," stressed Father Simbert.

The pastor of Grand-Goâve explained that "Some still have their house and use it to sleep. But they still conserve a tent or still live under a tent because they want to receive food. And the problem is that some take the opportunity to sell this food."
