photos - various - part 2

Last weekend the WFP "food surge" started. Every day sacks of food have been handed out to thousands of people. These rations are equivalent to a one month supply of food. These UN soldiers from Nepal were providing security at the distribution site at International Child Care on Delmas 31.

World Vision is responsible for the distribution of "coupons" to the people in our community.

There was a huge crowd of people waiting for food.

These men were waiting too. They sort of feel left out because coupons were being handed out to mostly women. At least they are happy!

Most people carried their load home on their head. We saw lots of people on the streets with bags of food. It is good to see the "food surge" in action.
