USDOL WILL ASSESS COMPLIANCE WITH INTERNATIONAL LABOR STANDARDS
(Haiti Libre) -
The Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH) informs that a delegation from the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) will travel the country soon to visit Haitian businesses of the garment industry, as part of the evaluation program of compliance with international labor standards, as provided by the HOPE law.
The ADIH and the Tripartite Commission for the Implementation of the HOPE law (CTMO-HOPE) welcomes the delegation of USDOL and other members of the U.S. government, and are excited to share with them the best practices and improve the compliance of the garment industry, while Haiti is developing this important sector of its economy.
"In these times of severe economic difficulties, and facing stiff competition at the global level, Haiti is determined to ensure that workers rights are protected and that the social responsibility grows in the business community" says ADIH.
"Compliance with international labor standards has made great progress and opportunities exist to further improve the performance of companies in this field. The Haitian apparel industry is pleased to welcome the team of USDOL" concluded the Association of Industries of Haiti.
