Sterline Bonhomme ("Princess") is a confident, determined young girl who was born with clubbed feet and developed hydrocephalus shortly after birth. 7 years ago her mother came to Coram Deo seeking help for her baby. She had trouble providing for help and we contacted Dorothy at Faith, Hope, Love Infant Rescue. Dorothy accepted Sterline into her home temporarily, until she received surgery for hydrocephalus. Sterline received good care and a neurosurgery team from the Univers...ity of Miami came to Haiti and did the surgery at Hopital La Paix, sponsored by Project Medishare.
She went for treatment of her clubbed feet to Healing Hands for Haiti. Every 2 weeks she would return for casting changes. Gradually her feet returned to a normal position. A small surgery was done on her feet and her feet were normal! We never knew if she would ever walk.
After the hydrocephalus surgery Sterline returned to her mothers care. The doctors had not given much hope for Sterline in her development. The cat scan showed minimal brain tissue and they doubted that she would even be able to roll over. God had other plans in her life :) She not only learned to roll over but over the last few years she has amazed everyone with her progress. Her mother never gave up and encouraged her to keep doing more. She is now walking, talking and ready to go to school. Sterline is a walking, talking miracle and a hope for other hydrocephalus children. She lives with her mother in the Carrefour area. We hope to help sponsor her to attend a school close to where she lives. If anyone would like to sponsor her education please contact myself or Tim Bos. We give thanks to all those who have been a part of Sterlines life.
