Jan. 14/15 - Haitian Red Cross

It was a busy afternoon today. One of the visitors went with us to bring Isaac's family and blood donors to the Haitian Red Cross. The room was packed with people all wanting blood for their families. One of the Red Cross workers was telling the people that only emergency requests would be handled. I got the worker's attention and explained that Isaac needed blood for his amputation and we were able to get access to the next room which was full of people too. The family is still waiting for blood. The surgery can't happen without it. Pray that blood can be found for Isaac's surgery. There was one person at the Red Cross who has been trying to get blood since January 3rd. Looks like there is a blood shortage here in Port-au-Prince. I have never seen the Red Cross so packed with desperate people all trying to get blood for a relative.

On the way back to the house we got a call from Bernard Mevs Hospital to pick up a family from Archaie. It was getting late and they had a return appointment for the morning. One of our visitors was able to get a good tour of Port-au-Prince:)

The hydrocephalus baby is only 15 days old and is just starting to show signs of hydrocephalus (tight fontanel). The next round of hydrocephalus surgeries will be in February. Please keep all the hydrocephalus children in prayer as they wait for neurosurgeons to come to Haiti.
