photos - 1 month after quake - part 2

Today was a national holiday decreed by President Preval - a national day of prayer and mourning for those who died in the earthquake exactly one month ago. For the haitian people it was also a time for them to show that they are strong. This elderly woman is a symbol of the haitian people. She sewed 4 smaller haitian flags together to make one large flag. Pray the nation becomes stronger. I know that this woman is strong.

Many people attended churches across the city.

This vehicle had a preacher who was speaking over the loudspeakers. Notice the faces of the people. Their lives will continue and they can smile after the earthquake.

There were many people walking in front of the National Palace too.

The people were friendly to the visitors as we walked.
