GARRY CONILLE MET A FINNISH DELEGATION IN SANTO DOMINGO
(Haiti Libre) -

The Haitian Prime Minister, Dr. Garry Conille, met last week in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, a Finnish delegation, composed of the Ambassador, Mr. Mikko Pyhälä, Vice Consul, Mr. Pasi Kapanen, the President of the Confederation of Builders, Mr. Termo Pipatti, and the influential deputy Jouko Skinnari, head of the finance committee.

The Prime Minister reviewed the various projects currently underway, funded by Finland. Dr. Garry Conille took the opportunity to outline the objectives set by the government for the next fiscal year.

The Ambassador, Mr. Pyhälä, demonstrated the interest of the Finnish people to the development of Haiti, and the will of its Government to ensure a greater participation in reconstruction projects in Haiti, particularly in the areas of education and energy.

Dr. Garry Conille urged Finnish businessmen to visit Haiti and emphasized that "the current climate is conducive to investment and tourism development."

Finland has committed to increase its contribution to reconstruction in the coming year, and Deputy Skinnari has promised to bring the contents of that meeting to the Finnish Parliament; .... an approach that he hopes, will have a positive impact on cooperation between the two countries.
