FREE EDUCATION, THE MINISTRY HAS PAID THE SECOND TRANCHE TO 2,342 SCHOOLS
(Haiti Libre) -
The Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) has confirmed that the second tranche of funds allocated to public schools to compensate the elimination of school fees, for a total amount of 63,808,200 gourdes (± 1.5 million U.S. dollars) was transferred to the accounts of the Departmental Directorates of Education (DDE). These funds are being shared between the 2,342 public schools, 1st and 2nd Fundamental cycles, involved in the Universal Schooling Program, Free and Compulsory (PSUGO). Regarding the 329 new public schools recently created within the program, the Ministry stated that the first two tranches, which were pending, are also available.
In addition, the MENFP points out that the costs per student, initially set at 100 gourdes, was revalued to 250 gourdes. So far, the Ministry MENFP has paid an amount of 150 gourdes per student. Therefore, there remains a final tranche of 100 gourdes, which will be paid to the school management only after the justification of the use of the first two tranches of funds, whose report is due no later than March 30, 2012.
Moreover, the Ministry informs the private schools that still do not have their checkbook, that the account is already provisioned, and they can make transactions by transfers on the accounts of those concerned, including the payment of teachers, following an agreement made with the National Credit Bank, that hosts the accounts of the schools concerned.
Finally, the MENFP informs that the process for the treatment of teachers recruited for new public schools within the framework of PSUGO, is being finalized in order to proceed, shortly, to the payment of the teachers concerned.
