ARTICLE - RESPECT FOR HAITIAN PASSENGERS

BORDER ORGANIZATIONS DEMAND RESPECT FOR HAITIAN PASSENGERS
(Dominican Today) -

Dajabon, Dominican Republic - The charity organizations Red Fronteriza Jano Siksè (RFJS), and Solidaridad Fronteriza (SF -Frontier Solidarity) today asked the transport union leaders and bus lines of Dajabon, to dismount the Haitian immigrants in the new Customs and Immigration building.

In a statement, the organizations that defend social and human rights of the citizens of the neighboring country, called the dismounting on the outskirts of bus stops a humiliation, where they are subjected to all type of extortions.

“The violations committed against them range from simple hustlers, drivers and moto-taxis to members of the military and police agencies, who should guarantee life and public order,” said the statement by RFJS coordinator Hilda Peña and the priest Regino Martinez, of SF.

They said they expect from officials as well as from the drivers involved with the vehicles that transport Haitians who return home, as well as those who enter legally, “to treat them like the other foreigners who visit us every day.”
