REPORTS OF CHOLERA OUTBREAKS IN REMOTE TOWNS AND VILLAGES IN GROS MORNE, LIMBE, TERRA BLANCE, AND PORT DE PAIX AREAS

From multiple HEAS partners:

[We are] checking out reported out-breaks of Cholera today in some remote towns and villages in the NW. A second team... was flown in to Port-de-Paix yesterday with 1,000 lbs of Cholera treatment... Theyflew up because the roads are impassable due to flooding. Flights were chartered... Should have an update for everyone later today. Teams will visit Gros Morne, Limbe and Terra Blance in addition to Port-de-Paix...

LAFITO/LAFITEAU: 7 NEW CASES OF CHOLERA & CLINIC OUT OF MEDICAL SUPPLIES

The situation in Lafito / Lafiteau continues to evolve, as evidenced by ongoing cholera transmission there. As described by the HEAS on multiple occasions, Lafito is within range of Cite Soleil where one case of cholera without a travel history had already been described. In the post-Tomas flooded environment where surveillance, rapid response, and treatment centers have been disrupted to varying degrees, cholera continues to spread.

GONAIVES - CHOLERA FATALITIES REPORTED

The Mayor of Gonaives, Billy Racine, last night and this afternoon, he said there were 10 cholera deaths yesterday in Gonaives.
