photos - clinic - part 5

The medical team saw 250 people at the church in Cite Soleil and over the week treated 1,000 patients over the 5 days.

Some people came to the clinic ith diarrhea and the symptoms were Cholera. During the week 2 patients in the Delmas 31 area were treated by the team for cholera and 5 patients the day we were in Cite Soleil. This was before cholera officially being announced here in Port-au-Prince. The day we were in Cite Soleil, people told us that people were getting sick in Cite Soleil. It was a couple of days later when it was officially announced that cholera was in Cite Soleil and as a result inside Port-au-Prince.

The people of Cite Soleil are very poor. Many don't have a toilet to use and are forced to use the ground or canal as their toilet. Cholera loves this type of environment. The people will need to be clean but infrastructure is now an emergency necessity. Sanitation facilities need to be established for everyone here in Port-au-Prince. Without proper sanitation cholera will always be a problem within Cite Soleil.

Pray that medical providers will be plentiful over the next few months to handle the cholera epidemic.

By the end of the day the church was empty and this sleepy boy went home.
