RED CROSS OPENS CARE CAMP IN HAITI
(News352)

Luxembourg’s Red Cross has set up a care camp to help halt the cholera epidemic in Haiti.

In the event that the illness spreads further, the human aid organisation has set up a base in the town of Gressier.

The camp, built at the request of the ministry of health, will be able to provide beds for up to 20 patients and an ambulance to transfer serious cases.

Three doctors, four nurses and ten assistant staff members are to be recruited to run the centre.

Residents of two neighbouring towns, Carrefour and Leogane, have already reportedly succumbed to the epidemic.

The charitable organisation is appealing for further funds to support its latest mission in Haiti.
