photos - karnaval - part 6

Today was day 2 of carnival and Kimosabee is still out of commission, so we asked Ysmaille if he could give us a ride up the mountain to Fort Jacques. The roads were quiet as we headed up main Delmas.

This educational sign reads, "put on a helmet to protect your life".

This sign from EDH says that the electric company is working hard to give more current. For the last 2 weeks we have been relying on our invertor/solar panels/generator for our electricity needs. EDH made a work order to fix the electricity cable dangling on our street but so far no EDH :)

2 of the public parks in Petionville have been cleared of the refuge camps that were on them. The government gave each family money to rent a home. It sure looks good that people can use the park as a place of leisure again. Port-au-Prince is slowly but surely advancing and one by one the camps are being cleared.

Across from Place St. Pierre there is an area where a lot of paintings are hung and souvenirs ready for sale. The government is hoping that tourism can help generate income to help revitalize the economy.
