NEW TREMORS A WEEK FROM THE EARTHQUAKE SECOND ANNIVERSARY
(Defend Haiti) -

PORT-AU-PRINCE – New low-intensity tremors were felt in the Haitian capital, respectively, Thursday, Jan. 5 (dawn) and Wednesday, January 4, 2012 (during the day), one week from the second anniversary of the earthquake of January 12, 2010.

The last response was registered very early, around 4:30 local time (9:30 GMT) Thursday, January 5, 2012, while most residents of Port-au-Prince were sleeping or getting ready to leave their homes to attend to their regular occupations, reported the online agency AlterPresse.

The telluric movement Thursday morning January 5, 2012, magnitude 5.3 on the Richter scale shook the Dominican Republic, especially Palmar de Ocoa (Azua, South), one of the 32 provinces in the neighboring territory located east of Haiti, where the epicenter was identified.

"The weather on the morning of Wednesday, January 4, 2012 was strangely similar to that of January 12, 2010," noted one resident, referring to the rain that started falling the morning of January 4 in different departments, including the north of Haiti.

"The earth will continue to shake,".... reminded the Haitian Seismology Technical Unit.

Established after the earthquake of January 2010 by the Office of Haitian Mines and Energy (BME), on which it depends, the technical unit Seismology (UTS), recommends that the people of Haiti not panic when there are quakes, but to continue to adopt measures of prevention.

A few days before the second anniversary of the earthquake of January 2010, no official announcement has been made on possible activities to commemorate the 300,000 victims.

Two years later, thousands of displaced people are still in tents, while practices disrespectful of seismic standards are seen in the construction of many houses in different places.
