photos - various - part 1

While we were at the hospital today the Hational National Police and the UN drove onto the hospital grounds with sirens going.
A man had been shot in the Delmas 2 area.
He was shot in the face and was unconscious. By how he looked I don't think that he survived. Delmas 2 is a hot spot for gang activity. There are also gangs in the nearby La Piste refuge camp. The police are frustrated. A female police officer said that these guys go around and shoot people and then just run into the corridors and disappear. Pray that a concentrated UN/HNP operation can be done in the La Piste and Delmas 2 area.
Children are also victims of shootings. This 6-month-old baby was shot in the arm by a wild bullet in the Fort Dimanche area. His mother said that the gunmen in the area sometimes shoot wildly and bullets hit the innocent, even babies. Surgery was done and the bullet removed. The arm was broken. Pray for this infant as he heals from his gunshot and pray for the police and the UN as they chase and break up armed gangs.
On the mayors road on the side road between Delmas 31 and Delmas 33 this morning we saw these UN vehicles parked by the small park on the left-hand side.
