ARTICLE - REACTIONS OF MARTELLY

REACTIONS OF PRESIDENT MARTELLY FOLLOWING THE REJECTION OF MR. GOUSSE
(Haiti Libre) -

President Michel Martelly expressed his reactions to the press following the rejection last Tuesday by the Senate of the Prime Minister that he had designated, Mr. Bernard Gousse.

"...It is a right that they have [the Senators] ... The other reaction that I have, is what do they want to do with the country ? What are their intentions, with children who will be going to school? With the other work that we have do in the country? These are questions that we ask ourselves. But the essential, is that this remains a right that they have [...]

When I will have the name [of the next Prime Minister] I'll let you know. We will find a name, there are 10 million Haitians, I do not have a problem for a name! The last time I submitted 10 names. These gentlemen [the Senators] chose and after that they said that it is not them who chose him... I think I'll prove that it is them who have made the choice. Now, it's not a question of a name; it is a question to know what they want, what are their intentions, so that we can understand... like this, we can move forward [...]

On May 14, I was sworn in; on May 16, I designated Mr. Rouzier and he fell on June 12-13; onJune 16 I designated Mr. Gousse. In my case, I am ready to work [...] and I continue to work on the projects that I can do... without a Prime Minister..."
