photos - usns comfort - part 18

The first day was a fun, hot day. Day 2 of the clinic was at Terminal Varreux.
This is where all the volunteer interpretors would be. These young men all speak english and are donating their time to help the military personnel. They are really enjoying this experience. Some of them even had the opportunity to translate aboard the Comfort ship!
Terminal Varreux is near Cite Soleil next to the fuel storage terminals. Pastor Pierre brought a few people from the Kenscoff area who needed medical care.
One of them is Floridalaine. She is 11-years-old and has a congenital cataract. It affects her vision and she is not able to read from the chalkboard in school. The doctors couldn't help her aboard the Comfort and today she saw an orthopedic doctor at Grace Children's Hospital. We are getting pre-op blood work done on Saturday and hopefully she will able to receive a surgery. Please pray that her cataract gets removed.
Another patient that Pastor Pierre brought down from the mountain is this young 6-year-old boy. His name is Hervenaux and he was born with congenital glaucoma and has a corneal tempensation in his left eye. The Comfort crew couldn't help him but told us that his other eye will be affected as well. Right now we are in a race against time to fnd care before he goes blind. He will need a corneal transplant. We also brought him to Grace Children's Hospital and is now receiving medication to treat the glaucoma. Please pray we can find medical care for him in the United States.
