photos - usns comfort - part 15

Johnny and his father are strong christians. The military doctors told Johnny that his sight would not return. They scheduled Johnny to go for surgery on the Comfort the next day to place a metal plate covering the part of his skull that was crushed. His jaw will need to be repaired in the United States. We are going to try and see if we can find a hospital there that can help him.
Pray for Johnny. We haven't heard yet how he is doing. Johnny is one of the 15 cases who received a surgery before the Comfort had to seek shelter in another area.... and Johnny was on it too. He wanted a picture standing beside me. He told me after that when I look at the photo to know that you have a friend. He also is not discouraged that he can't see. He told me he wants to learn how to play guitar.
Pastor Varreus has a church with the Love a Child mission. A few years ago he received cataract surgery on one of his eyes on the Comfort. This time he was hoping to get the cataract removed in his other eye. The ophthalmologist told him that he has glaucoma and that that needed to be treated first.
While waiting by the Killick gates we watched the different forms of traffic go by. This man beat afternoon traffic by riding a dockey!

This man is taking a break from selling fresco drinks from his wagon. A fresco is shaved ice with a juice poured over top. It is refreshing!
