Jacob - Intussusception Surgery Today

The surgery hasn't happened yet for Jacob. The surgeon's decided they wanted to have a blood transfusion ready. Early this morning we went with Stephanie to the Haitian Red Cross. Unlike the last time we were there with Isaac there was nobody waiting and we had a unit of blood within a couple of hours. The doctors diagnosed Jacob as having an INTUSSUSCEPTION, which is the most common cause of intestinal obstruction in children younger than 3. I looked up information on the web and the definition of this problem is that part of the intestine slides into an adjacent part of the intesting. This then can block food or fluid from passing through. It can also cut off the blood supply to the part of the intestine that is affected and can lead to a tear in the bowel, infection and death of bowel tissue. The surgeons later today are going to resection his bowel. The family was convinced that the devil caused Jacob's problem and because of the delay in seeking out medical care Jacob's body suffered. Please keep the surgeons' in prayer as they perform this emergency surgery to save Jacob's life and pray for strength and healing for Jacob.
