ARTICLE - PNH TRAINING IN ETHICS & DEONTOLOGY

TRAINING IN <> OF THE PNH
(Haiti Libre) -

Following a need expressed by Sony Noelsaint, the Departmental Director of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) of Grand Anse, the Section "Continuous training in the field" of the United Nations Police (UNPOL) initiated in late July , a training ... of about twenty heads of different police station and sub-police stations of the Department of Grand Anse. This training focused on ethics and deontology, communication, leadership and the command and respect of human rights issues.

Julien Honon Dadjo, Head of the Section "Continuous training in the field" explained that it is necessary that the police become familiar with the Code of Ethics of the National Police. Indeed, they have "the obligation of public service and the duty to prevent crime, and must treat with dignity those apprehended [...] The police officers must give a good image of the institution they represent. They must be honest, impartial and show loyalty to the institutions of the republic".

Another important module of this training is "the public reception in police stations". With this module, the police chief and their deputies learn to communicate with the public and know what words to use, or to avoid with victims of violence. As emphasized, Didier Schott, Commander of UNPOL for Grand Anse, "this allows the police officers to be closer to the people" adding that "other trainings could occur in other areas."

This training has also been given in Cap Haitien and Jacmel.
