ARTICLE - INSECURITY AND BULLETS

A STUDENT SERIOUSLY WOUNDED BY BULLETS

Incidents erupted Friday afternoon near the National Palace, in front of the Faculty of Ethnology in the area of ​​the Champ de Mars, after Roosvelt Rosier Verdieu, a student of the Faculty of Law and the National Institute of Administration of Management and Higher International Studies (INAHEI) was victim of an aggression near the Faculty of Ethnology and was seriously wounded by bullets.

According to testimonies, unidentified persons robbed the student of his laptop and attempted to rob his other goods. The student courageously resisted his attackers, who then opened fire twice, seriously wounding him in the chest, before fleeing. The student was rushed to a hospital.

In response, students from the Faculty of Ethnology, joined by other young people ... set up barricades of burning tires, and threw stones at vehicles, disrupting traffic. Students verbally attacked President Michel Martelly, whom they accuse of having done nothing to fight against insecurity, despite his electoral promises. The Champ de Mars is known as a zone at risk, frequented by delinquents and criminals who attack almost daily, passers-by and residents...

Special forces of the National Police of Haiti (CIMO and UDMO) intervened to disperse the demonstrators.

"... It is the third student who is a victim by bullets of the insecurity in the area of ​​the Champ de Mars. Already two have died, and one is on the operating table. we do not know if he will survive..." indicated one of the student protesters.
