OFFICIALS ANNOUNCE MORE MEASURES AT HAITI-DOMINICAN BORDER
(Dominican Today)

Dajabon, Dominican Republic.- Dominican officials in northwestern Dajabón province yesterday informed their Haiti pars in nearby Ouanaminthe of the decision to close the old bridge across the Masacre River at the border between both nations and that raw foods brought from their country would be incinerated.

The decision was communicated during a meeting in Ouanaminthe, but the Haitian officials refused to adhere to the measure until Port-au-Prince authorizes it, and noted that their Customs, Immigration, Agriculture and other offices will continue operating in the zone next to the old bridge.

A commission of Dominican officials headed by local Customs chief Elvio Bejarán and Border Security Corp (Cesfront) director Danilo Bivieca, among others, also announced the transfer of the Customs and Immigration offices to a new building, and the measure on raw foods as a measure to prevent the spread of cholera.
