ARTICLE - END OF THE FUEL SHORTAGE

END OF THE FUEL SHORTAGE
(Haiti Libre) -

As announced by the Government last week, the boat load of fuel from Venezuela arrived last Saturday in Port-au-Prince, and the supplying of gas stations immediately began.

Engineer René Jean Jumeau, the Secretary of State for Energy has assured that by Tuesday, the fuel shortage that has affected the economy in recent days, "should in principle be solved."

Wanting to be reassuring, the Secretary of State has indicated that this situation should not happen again, and that an additional order had even been made, so that the country does not know another shortage.

Mr. Juneau wished to stress that despite the higher prices of oil in the world, Haiti prices remained stable thanks to government subsidies. However, the Secretary of State indicated that this situation would change soon. Due to the financial needs of the Haitian State, the Government will have to suspend its fuel subsidies, which will cause an increase in fuel prices at the pump for consumers.
