TRAGEDY OF THE ROAD IN THE LOCALITY OF LACROIX PERISSE
(Haiti Libre) -

Tuesday on Route National #1, a pickup full with passengers, which was en route to Port-au-Prince hit, in the locality of Lacroix Périsse, 2nd section of the Estère, in Lower Artibonite, a truck of merchandise that was heading northbound, while trying to avoid a bus that came from Goaïves.

According to Mathieu Luckecy, Coordinator of Office of Civil Protection for Lower Artibonite 11 people, including 9 women have lost their lives in the accident. Two others passed away during transport to hospital. 4 other people were injured (3 are back home after receiving first aid). The one who was seriously injured was taken to Saint-Nicolas Hospital in Saint-Marc.

The Coordinator has deplored the poor conditions in which the transport of passengers is done, often in an open pickup and generally overcrowded. This is the second most serious accident since the beginning of the year; after that of Delmas, on January 16.
