THE BAHAMAS ARE INTERESTED IN BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN HAITI
(Haiti Libre) -

Following the visit of the President of Haiti, Michel Martelly, and his delegation in the Bahamas last Wednesday; Winston Rolle, President of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation (BCCEC), encouraged its members to come and explore the opportunities offered by Haiti "[...] Haiti is in rebuilding mode, so I would encourage any Bahamian businessman to explore business opportunities over there, because there is a need for a number of things ... We want to give our members the option of exploring these opportunities, and we feel that now is the opportunity to look into doing joint ventures with Haiti" Rolle explained, stressing that the Bahamas and Haiti could realize the benefits of a construction sector.

Apart from the construction sector, the Bahamas might be interested in agriculture. "Haiti has very fertile land and are able to grow things that The Bahamas is not growing right now", mentioned the President of the Chamber of Commerce, stating that there were few regulatory problems to be solved before we can import agricultural products and others from Haiti. The renewable energy sector is another sector in which the Bahamian companies could be interested in making partnerships with Haitian businesses.

Mr. Rolle indicated that the BCCEC was planning on meeting next week with the Haitian Embassy, and was planning a Trade Mission to Haiti this year, to explore on the field, the opportunities that exist for Bahamian businessmen in Haiti.
