(Defend Haiti) - By Samuel Maxime

PORT-AU-PRINCE - President and CEO of Radio Signal FM, Mario Viaud has been appointed Security Adviser to the President of the Republic, Michel Joseph Martelly.

The information was confirmed by Scoop FM by telephone interview by someon close to the president. Mr. Viaud has already received his letter of appointment.

Up until his appointment as the Head of State's Security Adviser, the name of Mario Viaud was cited as the position of Secretary of State for Public Security.

The CEO of Radio Signal FM is also owner of one of the main companies of private capital security, PAP S.A, which has hundreds of security officers.

It was reported earlier in the week by Haïti Libre that President Michel Martelly added to his security detail in personnel and automobiles at the expense of former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide.

The security services of President Martelly received yesterday Monday, by air cargo, 6 new armored vehicles for the new administration of Martelly to replace vehicles in poor condition of the former Government.

Meanwhile, activists of former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, complain of measures allegedly taken by government authorities aiming to reduce the number of security guards assigned to protect the former President. "The security team of President Aristide has been reduced to almost nothing" said a Lavalas activist. "This is worrisome... We need to know where we stand, we must do something to protect our leader..."
