photos - home rebuilding - part 1

The Angels to Haiti mission team has made several visits to Haiti to help out everyonehere at Coram Deo and people in the community. We visited where Yonel and his family were residing since the earthquake; in a tarp/tent house located in someone's yard. Yonel is our gatekeeper.

The reason that Yonel's family lives in a tarp/tent is because their house was destroyed during the earthquake. The community where they live was hard hit by the earthquake. A lot of destruction and loss of life.

People have been knocking down destroyed houses and putting up temporary shelters. Some people are living in their damaged homes.

This is a local "sheet market" where someone is trying to earn some money selling basic necessities to the community.

Before their return to Canada Marlene left some money to get started on the rebuilding of Yonel's home. Angels to Haiti fund raised the rest of the construction costs on their return to Canada. First thing that was done was to rebuild the foundation and raise it up to the height of the top of the canal. The foundation was a stone foundation.
