SAMUEL DALEMBERT IN HAITI ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR SPORTS COMPLEX

PORT-AU-PRINCE - NBA star Samuel Dalembert of the Sacramento Kings arrived in Haiti, accompanied by the WNBA's Nykesha Sales and representatives from the NBA where he announced plans to build a sports complex in the country.

Dalembert during the press conference on Friday, said discussions on the subject with the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly had already begun.

According to Dalembert, sites have already been considered by the Government, including Cité Soleil, the largest shantytown North of the capital. The basketball player said he himself would provide the funding through his foundation.

"This will be a center where young people can go to on the weekend for fun and study." "They will have the opportunity to continue their homework there and go to school," says Samuel Dalembert, which States that "this will be something like YMCA".

The Haitian giant (who is 2 m 11) is currently conducting a visit to Haiti in the company of the former American basketball player, Nykesha Sales, and Chris Cluny, representative of the NBA.

He also helped to mobilize nearly 100,000 U.S. dollars for UNICEF after the earthquake that struck Haiti in 2010.

Dalembert is in Port-au-Prince as part of the national day of childhood.
