ARTICLE - AGRICULTURE - MARTELLY AND PEASANTS

PRESIDENT MARTELLY ALONGSIDE THE PEASANTS

The President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, has launched Tuesday, June 28, 2011, in Leogane, the Agricultural Production Unit (Cellule de Production Agricole - CEPA), a structure of "Pati Politik Peyizan" (translated as Peasant's Political Party), which aims to strengthen the agricultural sector.

The ceremony, attended by the Deputies of "Repons Peyizan (translated as Peasant's Response)" M'Zou Naya Jean-Baptiste, Frédély Georges and Jean Fenel Thanis and representatives of most regions of the country, was an opportunity for the Head of State to renew his commitment to work alongside the peasants in order to achieve true agricultural recovery.

In this perspective, the Head of State, will establish Agricultural Credit Banks throughout the country, and agrees to accompany the CEPA and any other group or association of peasants in the ten departments of the country.

Despite the absence of a new Government, the President of the Republic remains determined to meet his commitments to improve the living conditions of the Haitian people.
