photos - bensons' birthday - part 3

This Daphka and her mother, younger brother and older sister. Pray for her adjustment to her family as she transitions back to life here in Haiti.

Daphka's family lives in the bottom of the ravine. These men were hauling an old lawnmower to bring to the scrap dealer. The narrow corridor is the entrance point from the road to the ravine.

We held a birthday celebration for Benson. He is 11-years-old. We went to Epi Dor for hamburgers and afterwards brought a cake back home to have a party with everyone here at the house. While everyone was singing "Happy Birthday" to Benson he leaned back onto the table. Afterwards he told me that he did this because he was crying and didn't want anyone to see. He said he closed his eyes and opened his mouth so that people would think he was laughing. It is good that something like this would bring "tears of joy" to his heart. He has had a difficult life. The "bebe" written on the cake was for a baby who had her birthday at the same time as well. We had a double celebration!

Afterwards I brought out the sparklers and the children had some fun with them.

I always say a prayer that they don't set fire to anything!
